About Colibri
Colibri Towelling is proud to have been supplying South Africa with high-quality terry towelling products for over 60 years!Our Story
Colibri Towelling was started in the 1950s in the town of Uitenhage in the Eastern Cape which became its operational base for many years. In the early 2000s, Colibri was sold to a group of entrepreneurs, with an existing operation in Strand, Cape Town, who in 2010 decided to shut down the Uitenhage plant and move all operations to Strand.
In 2011, after the company fell upon hard times, the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa (IDC) took sole ownership of Colibri. During the transition of ownership, the company ceased operations and reopened on a more secure financial footing in October 2012.
From Strength to Strength
Since 2012, Colibri has grown from strength to strength, and we are currently supplying many of South Africa’s leading retailers with the finest in towelling products. We are passionate about providing all South African homes with a value-for-money product characterised by style and innovative design.

We employ approximately 135 staff drawn predominantly from the Strand and its surrounding areas.
